Arriving & Transportation in Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki International Airport “Macedonia”: It is located in Mikra, approximately 15klm from the city center (Tel. 231.098.5000).

Transit bus service is provided between the Airport and the city of Thessaloniki, with connections to the Central Railway Station and the “Makedonia” Regional Coach Terminal (KTEL).

Bus service runs every 30 minutes and the journey to the city center takes about 40 – 50 minutes. Non-stop service to and from the city centre:

  • Bus Route Nr. N1 “KTEL – Airport ” (Night Service)
  • To and from Chalkidiki Coach Terminal (KTEL), Thessaloniki City Centre and Thessaloniki Eastbound Destinations (via “IKEA” Transfer Point)

Taxis at Thessaloniki Airport are available 24 hours a day.

If you are based in Athens, you can reach Thessaloniki with flights from Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport to Thessaloniki Airport “Macedonia”. Also, OSE (Hellenic Railways Organisation) trains depart from Larissis Station, and KTEL buses from Kifissos Station. Note that Thessaloniki has a passenger port that covers the needs of passenger sea transport (coastal and cruise).
